As Oracle 10g is not supported on Windows 7, following the official install guide won’t probably be enough to get it installed, because any errors that occur due to incompatibilities with the OS won’t be included in the official install guide.
You might be able to install it passing the “-ignoreSysPrereqs” parameter to the installer, or installing it using “Windows Vista SP 2 Compatibility Mode”, but more incompatibilities may appear after the installation.
It could be a better option installing it on a virtual machine with an older OS.
