If you called them, it's reasonable for them to ask identifying questions that they will use to investigate your background.   But if you are called by anyone, thank them for calling and ask for a number that you can call back. Before you call back, verify the number. Look in a phone book for a local branch and call them to ask how to verify one of their numbers. Or look the company up on-line and use contact information to determine how to verify.   When you are called, you have no way to know who is on the other end. Even 'Caller ID' only returns a string of letters that might or might not be legitimately associated with a company that has a similar name.   It can all be different if you have made appointments for calls than if an unexpected call arrives. When it's not planned, you should verify everything or simply hang up. Don't give personal identification data until you are convinced.   Tom
