The two are not mutually exclusive: one can have CRM on-line on a mobile. However, I see several reasons why CRM mobile hasn't been the success its inventors dreamt of (specially compared to CRM on-line on a lap/desktop): small screens, unhandy keyboards, connection is not 100% guaranteed and expensive mobile phones. Add to that the ease-of-use of wireless communication via a laptop, now also affordable at home (private) and it is clear to what side the balance will turn. No doubt the technology behind CRM mobile is clever, nice and cool but from the daily CRM practice & user's needs, I don't believe it can meet their requirements in a better way the other solutions do.
