* Do you save in the native ODF format (file type odt for text, ods for spreadsheets, etc.)?
* Do you get this on both Windows and Linux?
* Is it the same for all file types (wordprocessing, spreadsheets, drawings, etc.)?
* Is your upgrade the final “official” (Openoffice.org) version, a third party build, or a beta/RC install?
Your problem may be connected to user restrictions on your computer, prohibiting the modification of the common dialogs for your OS. (I’ve never seen it happen, so this is a “shot in the dark”.) Try using Open Office dialogs instead of common system dialogs: Tools – Options, expand branch OpenOffice.org – General and tick Use OpenOffice.org dialogs.
This should fix your problem. Let me know if it is resolved. Good luck,
