All we know about Disk Defragmenter, but in Windows 7 it is possible to defragment on multiple drives simultaneously. It is possible to run old programs in Windows 7. Just type “Program Compatibility” in search area and it shows Run programs made from previous versions of Windows wizard which may help with getting these older programs up and running.

Windows 7 is definitely a stability improvement over XP. Even having said that, I have had a couple of BSOD. The security prompts can be annoying for regular users, but I do have administrative access to my system so that does help. I think a lot of planning/testing and patience would have to go into deployment in an environment where least user authority (highly recommended config) is in place.

As with any OS there will be vulnerabilities that attackers can exploit and users should be aware of that threat and keep their systems and applications patched/updated. Demand security and learn what it takes to make a system trustworthy and reliable.
