Online Photo Album and Communication Tool
Hi - I run a volunteer program with over 200 volunteers. I'd like to create an online photo album of all the volunteers so the staff and other volunteers can identify one another quickly? Any suggestions for the best online system to use? Also, I'm trying to determine the best way to create a communication system among all of the volunteers. There are several different groups of volunteers but many volunteers are part of multiple groups. I like the idea of a message board but I'm looking for one where the volunteers could choose to get any messages that are posted emailed to them or to be able to email to the board. Any thoughts? Thank you!

Answer Wiki:
One really great album is <a href="http://jalbum.net/">JAlbum</a>. I use this on my website. it works great. I will have to look into the message board part. Another option which is a bit expensive would be a sharepoint site. There are a couple of companies which host sharepoint portals. With a sharepoint portal each group could get a page (or set of pages) where they could all talk with each other, and each user can upload thier photo and put in some basic info. (<a href="http://www.sharepointhosting.com">www.sharepointhosting.com</a>, <a href="http://www.alentus.com">www.alentus.com</a>, <a href="http://www.webhost4life.com/wss.asp">www.webhost4life.com</a> You could also use the Google photo site which allows you to setup an album in Picasa so that people can view the images that way. Photobucket and the like also allow you to upload lots of photos for little or no money. Google also has <a href="http://groups.google.com/">google groups</a> that you can use as a free online communications tool. my work just started using that.
