Hey guys, I'm looking into an online masters program from Charles Sturt University in Australia in networking and system administration. Has anyone had any experiences with this school? I'm in the U.S., but this program seems better suited to my interests than most of the programs I've found here. Should I expect to run into a lot of problems with U.S. employers for having a foreign degree? The school is accredited in Australia and is supposed to be a good school. I'd like any opinions, good or bad. Also, are there any schools here you'd recommend? I'd like a program that is focused on administration and not programming (I worked as a programmer for years and don't see the need to work on that skill set anymore.) Here's a link to the program: http://www.csu.edu.au/courses/postgraduate/networking_systems/application_det.html Thanks.

There are lots of schools offering online degree programs in IT/IS as well as other majors, particularly at the graduate level. It should not be difficult finding a non-programming track right here in the U.S. The most important thing is making sure that a school is accredited by a widely recognized accreditation body. The following Web site is a good starting point for further information on this (see here).

You are less likely to run into an issue with a foreign degree in IT/IS than you would be if you were studying say law or medicine. You’ll probably wind up getting some inquisitive looks at the fact that you have a degree from a foreign institution all the whilst, you were living right here in the good old U.S.

I’d been looking and waiting for an accredited undergraduate program, other than the well known online outfits like the University of Phoenix Online and so on, when I came across Empire State College, State University of New York. I encourage you to check it out, as well as other online institutions and programs.

Syracuse University also has a good network and telecommunications management program but it carries a heavy price tag. Here is a list of all the distance learning programs.

I decided it would be more hassle than it was worth and raise more questions than it would answer so I went with Capella University instead.
