 OKIT400 printing from AS400
AS/400 IP address, AS/400 printing, AS/400 Spooled Files, LAN
I have a direct thermal printer OKIT400 from OKI Printing Solutions on a LAN with an ip address. I also have an AS400 RPGLE to print labels to it. The program works just fine on the AS400 but the spooled files (labels) ARE NOT printing at all. Not even a beep or blinking error light of any sort occurs. I do have successful PING results to the ip address from the AS400. I know a test print from Windows makes it but the labels spooled files DO NOT print to it. WHY NOT?

I know a test print from Windows makes it but the labels spooled files DO NOT print to it. WHY NOT?

If it prints okay from Windows, then we can assume that you installed the Windows printer driver (or your PC had a compatible driver already installed).

And if it won’t print from the AS/400, the first thing we might need to know is which driver you installed on your AS/400 (or which one you selected when you defined the printer).

As far as I know, Okidata doesn’t supply a driver for T400s for an AS/400, but perhaps you have more information that you can tell us.

We print to a DataMax thermal printer which is attached to our IBM i with an IP address.
Maybe this info will help. Notice the device type and model.

Over the years we have used several models of thermal printers. We have had the best success configuring as 3812 printers.

Tom, I did not find any OKIT400 drivers on my manufactor / type listing so I’ve choosen *WSCST with QWPDEFAULT in my devd.
