 ODBC Connection to iSeries
Hi, My company has just upgraded to V6RM0 of iSries and I have had problems connecting to the new server through ODBC using Crystal Reports or SQL server DTS. The packages I already had set up are still functioning and I can get a connection OK, but whern I try to create a new package I get an a message "Unspecified Error" and the design view of the packe comes up blank where I would normally be abel to select a table to download data from. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a solution ? Thanks

Answer Wiki:
Have you applied the lastest PTF package? There are a lots of APARs opened for ODBC connection problems on V6R1 system version.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I’m new to all this so I don’t know the answer to that.

I did apply a service pack to the original – Is this what the PTF is?

Sorry for my ignorance on this but I’ve not been dealing with the IBM side for very long and I’m still trying to get my head round it all.

When some one talks about “Service Packs”, they are generally referring to iSeries Access for windows (Client Access). A PTF (Program Temporary Fix) refers to i5/OS.

Go to http://www-933.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/ to order the latest Cume for your system.
