Do you have any entries in teh Event Logs? This would be a good starting point to try to determine what is happening.
When you try to run the backup manually, what exactly transpires?

eduado sent me a private message with the following event information.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: NTBackup
Event Category: None
Event ID: 8001
Date: 8/20/2005
Time: 03:56:41
User: N/A
Computer: EMMANUEL
Description:
End Backup of ‘MNGMT_SRVD$’ Verify: Off Mode: Append Type: Normal
This seems to indicate a successful backup.
What I might do is to direct the backup to a file and see what happens. Is the file created? Is it of a size that would indicate taht a backup has occured?
If this fails, I’d probably look into getting a third party backup solution. Many of these are available on a trial basis so you can try before you buy.
Since we have no idea of the OS and the patch level, it is hard to come up with reasosns that may cause the NTbackup to fail like this. I do know that there have been various problems with the latest WIN2K rollup patch affection various aspects of the OS and applications, though I’ve not seen NTBackup mentioned in this light.

Sorry only just picked up on this thread. This is reason I moved away from NT Backup, if writing to tape, and tape fills up, NT Backup will just rewind, and start overwriting. I Never found any way to stop this happening, Maybe someone else ?? Means you have to continually monitor mount of data being backed up.
