Answer Wiki:
Firstly have you checked to make sure that your personal Names.nsf is on the right place. location will either be c:program filesibmlotusNotesdata (single user install) or local settingsapplication datalotusNotesdata (multi User install) There are different ways to confirm what install you are running but search for Notes.ini will no doubt show you the correct location faster than searching the registry. Then if the Names.nsf is not there then simple restore or recreate the DB. Simple way to recreate the Names.nsf is to reconfigure the Notes client.... to force this open the Notes.ini and delete all rows below the DST line. Then start Notes..... this will then prompt you to reconfigure notes.

We saw this behavior in a few machines in the past week. The only thing we’ve been able to assume was the cause was a recent MS Windows update. The names.nsf was where it belonged. The problem was that the Directory= line in notes.ini was wrong. Fixed it and everything worked again.

Yes you are able to open Names.nsf in proper manner with all Contacts and attachment. Use NSF to PST converter that open .NSF file into .PST file format.

Is that your understanding of the problem? How does that help a Lotus Notes problem that probably just needs a minor change to its .INI file? If there’s no understanding Notes, why would anyone trust a convertor?
