Notes Error: "Sorry, an application to open this document cannot be found."

Lotus Domino, Platform Issues

Thanks to all in advance,
I have a Notes 6.5.5 Client user running on Windows XP version 2002 service pack 2. He gets the following error only with Excel attachments, and with all Excel attachments. "Sorry, an application to open this document cannot be found." The attachment has the .xls extension and can be viewed with the Notes viewer fine, but cannot be opened. Also when detached and saved to the hard drive, Windows opens the attachment fine, therefore the OS knows to use Excel when opening .xls files, but I am unable to figure why the file can't be opened directly from Notes. Any suggestions? Thanks again.

If the xls file is detached can it be opened by clickingon it? If not you should establish an association:
hold down shift>>right click on spreadhseet file>>select open with program>>Excel >>>Always use this program

Thanks All
Found out it was definitely a Windows association issue.
I had the user detach an Excel file to his hard drive,
then he used Windows to search for the file via Start, Search, For files or folders. After the OS located the file, he right clicked it to select properties. Clicked the ‘change’ button, and selected Excel. This corrected the issue.
