Hi I am having problems with developers unable to view job logs of jobs (currently running / ended). I am on V5R2. QEZJOBLOG queue has been setup as OPRCTL *YES , DSPDTA *NO and AUTCHK *OWNER. Developers have *JOBCTL as part of grp profile. I dont feel confortable giving them *SPLCTL as there are critical spools on the system. Any suggestions ? Thanks

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

create a CL wrapper program for the DSPJOBLOG command and when compiling set useprf(*owner) and set the owner of the command to a profile that has sufficient authority.

Since there is no command line in DSPJOBLOG, users won’t be able to do anything else under the extra authority.

Since DSPJOBLOG won’t help you much for joblogs that have been spooled, consider instead the DSPSPLF FILE(QPJOBLOG) SPLNBR(*LAST) command. The program could run that command, prompting the JOB() parameter to allow selecting which joblog to view. The SPLNBR() parameter might also be made available in case multiple spooled joblogs are created.
