I haven't been able to get to www.midwich.co.uk since Saturday morning. Was OK last Friday went down while I was working on it Saturday. It seems that if I disconnect my router and reconnect after a few minutes that I can see the site, but after a few minutes I am unable to connect again. I can ping the site but a traceroute fails after about 6 hops at the same router. In order to get to this site I have to change the DNS on my router to manual or automatic DNS set up and reboot. This will work for a while, sometimes as little as 10 minutes, and then I have to swap the DNS configuration and reboot again This is the only site where I have a problem. Unfortunately it's one I need to use at least once every day

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I’d suggest that you look at your routing tables right after reset, when you CAN get to the site, and then keep watching it until you CAN’T – and look for any differences, and follow them up as appropriate.

Just for jollies, I did a tracert from the U.S. to that site and it started timing out inside a German ISP named schlund.net.

Bob

Sounds like you have a problem with an upstream router. I had this problem recently and just had to persist with reporting it to my ISP until they got someone to look into it.

Had a quick look, Upstream routers appear to be tied down very tightly, no route available. Also notice it redirects to www.midwich.com. If problem is DNS related best bet is put it directly in your hosts file (IP 82.165.39.29), or use the alternative www.midwich.com. If problem is router related only thing you can do is chase ISP to fix problem.
