Digital streaming to my iPad or iPod

I have the option to buy an audio or video lecture.  "All formats include Free digital streaming!"  What I eventually want to do is have this on my iPod.  My understanding is that streaming is not a permanent way to obtain material.  I do not want to run with an iPad just my little bitty iPod.  If I get the video format, can I put the content on my iPod?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

That is correct, when you stream something, it is buffered onto your device so that when you view it, it will be continuous, as long as you have a good connection. If, when you click on the video to view, it ask you to download it, then that is when it will be placed onto your device. If you have watched any videos on YouTube, notice that they are not on your device? That is because of the buffering to your memory for smooth watching.

By using airplay (a small tool) you can steam music/video on apple devices. However, it depends on version or model type.
