Noob Question: How to mount 1U server in 2 post rack.
This is likely a noob question, but I have a poweredge 1850 1U that I needed mounted into a rack which only has the front vertical bars (a 2 post rack?).  The metal at the front of the server does have screws to mount into the rack but the back hangs so far backward and is so heavy, that this won't do.  Are there some pieces I'm missing?  I had Dell Rapid rails, but those didn't seem to help.  Can you provide a link to whatever I need to buy in order to get this server in the rack instead of teetering on a small table.  Thank You.

Answer Wiki:
The only real safe way to rack mount on a two-post rack is to use a shelf. See this <a href="http://www.google.com/search?q=two+post+rack+mount+shelf&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-Address&ie=&oe=">Google search</a> for some options.

You can either use a shelf, or see if Dell has rails for a 2 post rack. They should have an option which they can sell you.

When I had this issue, I tried to check if the 2N2222 was in a good mood. I know it can sometimes provide problems, so I thought this might affect my connection. I’m not sure if this is the main reason, but it’s worth checking.
