The first question I would need to ask is, what does it say in Device Manager? If it gives you an item in the area for network adapters for your NIC, then you will need to go to the website of the laptop and download the drivers of the NIC and install it. How? From one computer, put it on a thumb drive and then transfer it to the laptop. Also, be sure to save these files for future use. I have to do it with a Dell Latitude D600 that I have.
Good luck.

Also check the BIOS, on a dell it should be easy to tap f2 as it boots up, before the windows screen and see if the network cards or wireless is enabled. If they aren’t you wanot even be able to see them in the system manager
