NFPA 80 requires a maximum 1/8 inch clearance between the door and frame on the hinge, head and strike side of a 90 minute fire door. This is a difficult, if not at times impossible, task when the hollow metal fabrication standards and the wood door fabricating standards allow 1/8 inch tolerances. Is there additional allowances in NFPA 80 or another standard that is more reaonable in regards to the allowable clearance around an installed fire door? If not currently, this standard needs to be revisited.
