Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You can start installing pppoe rpm but might be needed to compile kernel. What is exactly your modem model ?
Bye.

You're better off spending $30 and getting a Broadband router. This will provide the PPOE connection and offer a nice firewall with a DHCP server. Then you can share the connection with all of your machines.

Hi, Before installing pppoe, make sure your provider is using it; novadays pppoe is usually replaced by dhcp. If this is the case, activate dhclient or dhcpcd on the provider-facing unterface and setup the linux-box as a NAT or "masquerading" router. The choise depends on the provider-supplied IP: if it's dynamic - set "masquerading", if it's static - set NAT. BR, Petko

I agree with dcsys99, get a broadband router. If not, upgrade the Red Hat 9 to something a little more secure and up to date, such as Fedora Core 3 or RHEL 3, if it's a "real" corpoaret connection.

Why dont you install latest Fedora Core 12 I think that will solve your problem or else go for a ADSL router which dcsys99 has suggested.
