I'm reviewing NetIQ products and trying to find products that might be similar from other companies for comparison. I found a few resources, e.g. http://www.topmonitoringvendors.com which suggests Argent, Quest and BMC Software, but does anyone have any other leads. I was half thinking SolarWinds, but?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

The question becomes what requirement are you looking for as per comparison with NetIQ. There are hundreds of players in this market. You can get a single-solution to view everything but it may not provide you the information in detail as compared to “specialized” products. Quest and BMC Software have a whole spectrum of solutions that you can think of but it can become costly over time. Some names you may want to look at for monitoring software – Manage Engine http://www.manageengine.com/, Nimsoft , Zyrion and one hardware monitoring solution with different components from ScienceLogic’s EM7 http://www.sciencelogic.com/.

JoneseyBoy, As Aquacer0 points out above, there are many choices available for server/application monitoring today. You mentioned SolarWinds above so I thought I would respond and say that you should definitely include Orion APM (Application Performance Monitor) within the products that you evaluate. You can download Orion from free from solarwinds.com and try it out for free. It can be installed, configured, and up and running in under an hour. Of course, my opinion can't exactly be considered to be unbiased as I've worked here at SolarWinds and helped to build the products that we offer for several years. So, don't trust me. Instead, check out our community site at thwack.com where over 25,000 active members go to share their experiences with SolarWinds products and knowledge of network and systems monitoring technologies and best practices. Good luck and if I can ever be of assistance please don't hesitate to contact me at headgeek@solarwinds.com. Thanks, Josh Stephens Head Geek, SolarWinds
