I still think the Security+ is the way to go when you're just getting started....you may also want to look at the SANS and the ISC2 SSCP cert but I know it requires some experience as well.

Good lesson for everyone in college out there: work while going to school if you can. It'll be one of the best things you'll ever do for your career.

Thanks guys really appreciate the help.

I looked up the certifications and i found that the CompTIASecurity+ Certification is for people with experience since i just having just completed my graduation is not eligible.

And also that the cisco certification have a higher presence than the other. And also since i don't want to get into hardware i am more interested in the software side like firewalls and network protection kind of things and from what i found out any cisco certification requires CCNA.

So it would be helpful if you could guide me for the same.

Thanks and Regards

I agree. The Security+ is a very good baseline certification and will help with understanding fundamentals and permit you to build on that foundation.

Look into the CompTIA Security+ certification. It sounds like it may be a good fit for you.
