Since you are just a beginner

The ideal certification for will CCNA Security 640-553 IINS , but the prerequisite for this certification is to have a valid CCNA -640-802. So you should pass the CCNA -640-802 before appearing to CCNA Security 640-553 IINS.

You have one more option to be on the Security track is to pass the CISSP Certification.

Look into the CompTIA Security+ certification. It sounds like it may be a good fit for you. You may also want to check out these articles I've written on information security careers. Best of luck!

I agree. The Security+ is a very good baseline certification and will help with understanding fundamentals and permit you to build on that foundation.

Thanks guys really appreciate the help. I looked up the certifications and i found that the CompTIASecurity+ Certification is for people with experience since i just having just completed my graduation is not eligible. And also that the cisco certification have a higher presence than the other. And also since i don't want to get into hardware i am more interested in the software side like firewalls and network protection kind of things and from what i found out any cisco certification requires CCNA. So it would be helpful if you could guide me for the same. Thanks and Regards Deepesh Satija

I still think the Security+ is the way to go when you're just getting started....you may also want to look at the SANS and the ISC2 SSCP cert but I know it requires some experience as well. Good lesson for everyone in college out there: work while going to school if you can. It'll be one of the best things you'll ever do for your career.
