 Need advice on CRM application integration for email newsletter system

We are in the process of developing an electronic email newsletter system for one of our client. Could you tell me how we may be able to link to and from their Microsoft CRM database to our email newsletter SQL Server database. For example, we need to link the newsletter with the database of contact emails stored in CRM to send the newsletter + write information on who has viewed the newsletter and what they viewed back to their CRM. How would you do this? Thank you very much.
