I need a sample of logical network design including the access layer, distribution layer and core layer for the following issues -

A. The first option is to produce software that the clients can download on their computers to run. The tool will carry out the processing on the clients’ computers and would occasionally need to communicate with the company server to download current data. The second alternative involves running the analysis software on the company server and clients using a web browser to interact with the server software.

B. Company office in Delhi currently has a Local Area Network (LAN) of around 9 computers. However, a number of employees would like to be able to use laptops at colleagues’ desks and in meeting rooms with wireless access to the network. The Information Systems department has proposed installing a wireless LAN (WLAN) to enable this.

C. Software is going to use a three-tier client-server architecture. The tiers will be a web browser at the client end, a separate web server tier, and the software server that performs application logic and all the data storage and access logic. In this way, there is no issue with installing/supporting a software client on end-user computers. Both customers and company staff will use software through a web-based interface, although staff may see extra options. Apart from accessing software, staff also use Microsoft spreadsheet and word processing software on their computers (Windows XP PCs and laptops) for preparing reports, with work-in-progress files stored on staff computers.

You mentioned “I need a sample of logical network design including the access layer, distribution layer and core layer for the following issues ” and Points A and C are more server/ software based issues. Point B is relatively easy – a good (wireless or wired )router, add in a distribution switch, a couple access switches, toss in an access point or 2 and you should be up and running…

For the rest of it, I’ll leave that for you server folks..
