Netbackup 6.0 gives two options to backup NDMP data from NAS Devices (Filers or Heads).
1. 3 way NDMP Backup where data flows over the network to the master server and gets backup up using the Master server drives.
2. NDMP Backup through Fabric. In an enviornment where drives are configured in SSO schedules should be carefully configured in the Netbackup policies.
a) As NDMP Backup is capable of high backup throughput. The time taken for this must be taken in care so that the schedules in the policies be configured properly.
b) The NDMP Backup can be full, incremental or diffrential, the backup architecture should be properly analyzed before configuring the number of drives for each backup.
c) Multiplexing and Multistreaming should be configured based on the backup window.
d) If NDMP Data for backup is large, Its always better to configure Vault after taking NDMP backup than configuring valut tapes to be generated while backup is going on.
