We have a need to encrypt network attached storage (NAS) share drives in a Windows Server 2008/Windows 7 environment and are looking for encryption software recommendations.  The network share drive is served up via NAS/accessed from Windows 7 and we would like all of the files encrypted at rest, but usable upon reference by specific domain account users without manual intervention.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Software/Hardware used:
Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Network Attached Storage

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I found the answer we were looking for – Symantec PGP NetShare which “allows users to automatically and transparently encrypt files and folders on a file server enabling secure sharing of protected documents, spreadsheets, graphics files and more. PGP NetShare provides client-based server encryption that can be managed via PGP Universal Server to enforce corporate data protection and key management policies.” Here is a link to the information about NetShare that we found very useful.

Create an encrypted file container directly on the NAS that is large enough to fill the drive, then mount it as a virtual drive on the client computer anything you copy on the virtual drive would be automatically encrypted and stored to the  nas
