 Nagios Integration with Speedfan
Hello all, I am in the process of adding (all) network devices to Nagios. That is to say, I am attempting to write scripts and what not to monitor everything we have, basically as a first-alert system.

I am currently in the process of adding some devices which require more in-depth monitoring. I'm sure many of you are familiar with Speedfan, an application that monitors system hardware. I have read about the integration of Speedfan and Nagios. I have installed the necessary SNMP agents as well as NSClient and Speedfan. I have also 'installed' the 'check_sfan.pl' script.

My questions are, what is the syntax for the command for check_sfan? What is the appropriate service declaration for check_sfan? Lastly, what are the arguments required in the command/service when using check_sfan?

Thanks in advance,

-Schmidtw

Answer Wiki:
While I've not yet addressed the check_sfan.pl script and its functionality yet, I have successfully configured Speedfan to run as a service. It took some work with the resource toolkit from Microsoft, and some registry editing, but the service starts automatically. I used the option to allow the service to interact with the desktop to verify that it was in fact running. I then disabled this feature of the service. I am still in need of assistance with the perl script, however. -Schmidtw
