Can you use a static IP network addressing scheme (no dhcp) with a NAC solution? It was my understanding that NAC works best with DHCP

Is that true? Anyone today using a static IP network with DHCP?

Software/Hardware used:
Windows 2003, 2008, XP, 7, Cisco routers, Extreme Switches

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

The reason NAC works well with DHCP is that DHCP is a broadcast protocol so the NAC appliance/system can see this traffic immediately on the network before a client becomes active. See this Wikipedia article on NAC for more information.
