example: my data in A1 cell is ABCDE. I want to display it as 56789 in B1 cell. (because my codes are A=5, B=6, C=7, D=8 and E=9) In a similar way I want a formulae that automatically converts my alphabet codes in row A into number format in row B. Another similar example: my data in A2 cell is DACB. I want to display it as 8576 in B2 cell. Thanks in advance, Umang (ugchandani@gmail.com)

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

As far as I know, there is no way to do this automatically.  You will have to write your own formula in cell B1.

I’ll get you started:  =SUBSTITUTE(A1,”A”,1)
