 Multiple NICs cause connectivity loss

I have 2 NICs in a computer. They are for different subnets. If I have both of them enabled, then my primary NIC that gives me internet connectivity fails to allow me to get out or ping to the net. If I disable my 2nd NIC, then my primary NIC works fine and I can get out. I do need to have both of them enabled so that my computer can both get to the net and also talk to another computer on the 2nd subnet. What is the fix? ie. 1st NIC = 192.168.0.2, 255.255.255.0, 192.168.0.1 (connected to router to the net) 2nd NIC = 192.168.1.2, 255.255.255.0, 192.168.1.1 (connected to an internal fixed IP server)

If you remove the gateway from the second NIC you should be OK and you will still be able to see the ip addresses on the internal network.
