Multi-core processing

Q:
Multi-core processing
We are using too much energy on heating and cooling, and I know we're not running our data center as efficiently as possible. I'm looking to buy a homogenous multi-core processor with about 2 GHz and between 2 and 4 GB hard drive space and 3 GB RAM. I need my resources to be easily accessible throughout the data center and to have low overhead in general. Could you please recommend a product(s) to look at for my above requirements, and perhaps some applications which would go well with them?

Sounds like you need to virtualize your environment if it hasn't already been virtualized. VMware is big right now, nobody has even close to the amount of automated failover and protection that they offer. You can also look at Xen and Microsoft if you want a cheeper solution. To reduce the amount of heating and energy, you should also look into blade servers.
