We have a service which uses LINGTOSQL to process some updates on a remote SQL box.  On some machines everything is fine and it works without DTC enabled.  On other machines, that appear identical the transaction is being elevated to a distributed transaction and failing if it hasn't been enabled correctly.  This is on SQL 2008 and SQL 2008 R2 environments, on Server 2003. Are there any suggestions of why we might see this behavior in only some environments?

What kind of commands are these that are being run? Are they going across linked servers? Please provide source code of the SQL Statements which are being run.
