MSDTC error
I'm using two server 1.Application server (Windows XP Pro SP2) and 2.Database server (Windows Server 2003). When execute an application that will connect to my machine for database access and next it'll connect to DB server, at this time it produce "Communication Underlying Transaction has failed". Then I searched so many forums, that says DTC error. Then I tried at Component services->MyComputer->MSDTC->security settings->checked all options with all combinations, but again provides same error. Then I re-installed MSDTC, again it produces same error. So many works are bending with this. Can anyone help me?

hi PCJunkie, thanks. i did ur response. but no response.. i also did, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindows NTRPC - RestrictRemoteClients 0 add the following registry keys to enable CM tracing (is this correct?): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMSDTCTraceCMErr (DWORD) and set it to 1 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMSDTCTraceCMErrLogName (REG_SZ) and set it to D:MSDTCTrace. This is the CM trace output: 05-23-2009 10:54 01:865: CM Error Value = 0x00000000, Calling RpcServerRegisterAuthInfo with C009Administrator as SPN, d:comxp_sp2comcom1xdtcdtccmsrciomgrrpc.cpp (386) 05-23-2009 10:54 28:106: CM Error Value = 0x000006d9, Call to RpcEpResolveBinding failed, d:comxp_sp2comcom1xdtcdtccmsrciomgrclt.cpp (489) 05-23-2009 10:54 28:138: CM Error Value = 0x80000171, Call to SetRpcSecurity failed, d:comxp_sp2comcom1xdtcdtccmsrciomgrclt.cpp (573) 05-23-2009 10:54 28:169: CM Error Value = 0x80000171, SecureBuildContextWrapper call failed. What application are you using to contact the database. And what form of database is this?

When you say you tried the Component services->MyComputer->MSDTC->security settings->checked all options with all combinations I assume you meant this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/329332. I've seen that error a lot of times and that has always worked for me the only other thing I would add is that the server requires a re-boot. If that doesn't work then I'm stumped. After that I would ask what database platform you are using like the one poster. If its SQL 2005 you also have to so into Surface Area Config and turn on Remote Connections.
