Hi ALL, Background: Windows 2003 Server returned the error missing or corrupted file after the server was found OFF due to possible power problems (Server is on a UPS). Ran a CHKDSK on the server and it fixed the missing or corrupted file problem and server now up and running. Is seems that my SQL databases have been corrupted. I have backups, however, the BKUPEXEC services does not start so I can restore the backup of the databases. When I try to start the service it returns the error code 3417. Any Suggestions?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Ok so the error message you gave is a SQL error that the database is corrupted. If you have access to your .bak file from your db you can restore it.

Can you reinstall BKUPEXEC on another machine and restore? What medium are you using to back up to?

Have you tried running setup.exe from your sql installer cd to try and rebuild the database?

Let me know exactly where you are at and how you were backing up. If your maintainance plan was creating full .bak backup you should be able to restore those no problem.

You can post the error messages from the SQL Server's ERRORLOG file? Without this information there's no way to know what the exact problem is.
