Got a new server that I need to move exchange 2000 over to. All the advice on the net points to how to remove the first email server or Ed crowleys easy method,,but I need a few more details. I would like to give it a new name, new ip address and new admin logon. Is this possible? Do I have to run forestprep again when I set up this new server?

Do following: - build server as member server to the domain - install exchange, it should pick up that is the second server on the domain - replicate public folders accross - move user using mailbox migration to the required mailbox store on the new server Make sure that you backup the server that hosts the mailbox prior to any changes. Let me know if you need more information.

I set up the new server,,,installed exchange we don't use the public folders so there wasn't much to replicate and did a test mailbox so it seems to be working. Just going to follow microsofts article Q307917 removing the first exchange 2000 server from site ( in a week or 2) Thanks,,,thought it would be a lot harder.
