I need to get data from a iSeries DB2 system to my Windows DB2 system. The DBA produced and sent me a savf file. How can I important that savf file into DB2?
Hi,
I don't think that's going to work for you. The .savf is an iSeries "Save File" and is only restoreable on another iSeries. I suggest you ask the DBA to export the files to another format for you, maybe he can FTP them to a PC in ASCII format. Make sure you let him know you're not working with an iSeries. Most people will assume DB2 is either iSeries or Mainframe.

Martin Gilbert.

Try a utility called VIEWSAVF, created by Julian Wong. You find it here :
You will have to pay for it, but it’s only 29 USD (about 15 GBP), paid throgh PayPal. If you don’t pay, you can only see the first 20 records in a file member.
I’ve just downloaded it and tried it out – it’s quite basic, but workable. It will copy a file member to a PC folder as text, Word or Excel format.
