 Moving between AD’s
Could someone give me the basic steps required to move a user population (with their data & permissions) of around 2000 from an existing AD into a new AD at a new site. I don't need a detailed technical step by step at this stage, just a basic idea of the high-level activites. I've heard rumblings something along the lines of: 1) Move server (SVR1) from Existing AD (AD1) to new AD (AD2) 2) "Synch" SVR1 with AD2 3)Move SVR1 back to AD2 4)Put SVR1 back into AD1 5)Use SVR1 to Synch AD1 with AD2 6)Move users in big bang style. - Sounds a bit too simplistic to me - and I'm not sure if this is the correct approach. Any advice much appreciated.

That seems a little convoluted and prone to possible issues. Check into the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT). Here is a link to check it out: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=788975b1-5849-4707-9817-8c9773c25c6c&DisplayLang=en Kevin
