Moving a virtual machine from one physical server to another
When an adminstraor wants to move a virtual machine from one physical virtualized server to another I assume he identifies both the "computer name" of the virtualized machine to be moved and the "computer name" of the virtualized physical server he wants the virtualized machine moved to. Is this correct and how does he cause this move to occur?

Answer Wiki:
Moves are acheived by your virtual machine management software. For instance we use vSphere. The server itself to be moved does not have to know the name of the Host machine, the controlling management software is aware and takes care of the move. As far as the virtual server is concerned there is no "awareness" of the virtual machine host, no.

Technochic,
I responded to you in my previous question that is related to this question.

My goal is to get a monthly count of the physical servers in my data center with their computer names and a count of the machines (both standalone and virtualized) and their computer names.

If I can’t get that I will settle for just knowing the count of physical servers and the count of machines.
