 How can I get XP to assign a Letter to an additional IDE drive installed as slave
How can I get XP to assign a Letter to an additional IDE drive installed as salve, so I can access it? XP installed and it appears as hard drive in Device Manager hardware.

You might need to access the BIOS settings in your computer. To do this on a Dell computer you press F2 as the computer is starting up, other computers will probably vary from this. Watch the screen on startup and see what is displayed when starting up. Also check and make sure that the jumper on the drive is set for "slave." The drive should have a label that will tell where to set the jumpers. Do your self a favor and DO NOT trust the "CS" (cable select) settings. Set your master drive as "Master, Slave as "Slave."
