Move Exchange 2000 to new hardware
We plan to do an offline backup and restore to new hardware with Veritas Bare Metal Restore. We want to do an offline backup to prevent any mail flow. I have seen an article that talks about skipped files with offline backups of Exchange. Has anyone tried this before? Any advise?

Answer Wiki:
Hi, I would advise you to use the swing method, add a new exchange server to your Admin GP and then move the mail boxes over using exchange tasks, once they are moved you can then change the connector or upgrade the old system and then move the mail boxes back. Remember to do a full backup first. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/821896 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/264879/
