Is there a command to permanently mount a backup tape on tape drvie for recovery of data.

Please provide more details. What backup software are you using? What hardware? What model/naufacturer of the tape drive? Why do you want to mount a tape permanently? This is IBM AS400 i series. Backup tape is mounted to extract customer statements for multiple requests.
