Hi, I am having KV8 ASUS motherboard and AMD processor in my PC. Now I am planning to upgrade to ASUS P8P67, so I want to know whether my existing AMD processor will support the new ASUS P8P67 mother board? The question here is to understand there is there a dependency for the mother board to have certain criteria for processors? What would be relevant documentation to read for understanding the processor supported by ASUS motherboard? Awaiting response...please let me know.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

No: the P8P67 has a LG1155 CPU socket, for Intel processors only.

When in doubt, check the motherboard manufacturer website : www.asus.com

The K8V is a socket 754. The P8P67 is socket 1155. The old processor can't be plugged into the new motherboard. The documentation to read is the motherboard specifications and CPU specifications from the respective manufacturers. -- Tom
