Need to know how I can get SharePoint to recognize a second partitioned drive on the same server where I've installed SQL server 2005 and want the SharePoint configuration database and everything held.
Server (Mars) is set up with local C drive where I've installed Server 2003 OS. Then I have another drive on same server set as D. I installed SQL Server 2005 on this. Now I want to install MOSS 2007 on C and go though the Products and Technologies configuration wizard so that it creates the initial database and Central Admin page.
When I do this though there is no way to specify the D drive on Mars as the location to find SQL and build the database within. Instead the full MOSS installation also installs it's own version of SQL with folders on C and then creates the DB here.
So I have 2 problems. One that it's using the SQL that comes with MOSS 2007 and not my SQL 2005 I've installed, and Two that I have no way of pointing it and linking it to D drive to store all this database for everything.
I have the enterprise version and want the full installation so I can have room for future growth. How can I do this? Choosing Advanced doesn't allow you the option to not install the SQL piece that comes with MOSS and even if it did there is still no way of pointing the config wizard to see D drive. I'd really like to be able to use just the one server in this fasion but no one has been able to solve this for me. Any guidance is appreciated.
