magic software has a product called UniPaas. You can download a free version which allows ODBC as well as Mysql native. With Unipaas you can access both access and as400 tables as you wish. write the programming you need for interfacing the 2 systems and then buy a runtime license(@300 a seat). If you are familiar with the old RPG cycle you will have no trouble coming up to speed with this RAD tool. I can help you with the as400 odbc setup. Create odbc for access table as well. It’s an awesome development environment. Magic software is an IBM Partner. Check is out at magicsoftware.com. Without a RAD tool it will be difficult to accomplish without exporting/importing data back and forth between the 2 systems via flat files. With Client access you could accomplish this. You can create the transfer members and record Macros to automatically transfer and run PC or AS400 programs to comsume them and shield the user from the details.

You should be able to do this without any problems. MS Office can be integrated with the AS400. You have been able to access data from the AS400 for a long time now. I have personally used ODBC and some other type of connection which I can remember at this time. But someone else should be able to point you in the right direction here.
