 Modem Speed
I have a new modem Q100z. It is suppose to be faster than the Actiontec M1000 that I have been using. The Q100z doesn't seem to be any faster at all. Please advise. Thank You.

Answer Wiki:
A faster modem does not mean more speed. You might want to check with your ISP as to increasing your DSL bandwidth. You can use a site like www.speakeasy.net to determine your current bandwidth. Good Luck, Flame

You should try running a speed test of each modem (http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest) to determine how each modem is performing, then you can determine which modem is faster.

Modem speed is not only depending on modem, but also in basic computer maintenance…. performing a few tasks like defrag ur computer; clean the registry or even scan / remove viruses are also part of that. It also needs to use tcp/ip optimizer, which helps to tweaking the conn. If there is still the probs, then it is better to call ISP to fine out the wholes. If u r living in a rural area and if there is conn probs from the provider then it is another issue.
