"convenience" do have a price
compromise in the security (or security breach) could be encoded in the mobile apps
myself I would not trust mobile browser
and I would never access my desktop from a mobile browser...
new hackers currency is information...
yes it is easier and more convenient remote troubleshooting via app for network management... - but for now I do not trust mobile apps....
@arunraveendran: Security is of primary concern in the case of mobile applications. But that is also dependent on the application that is used, and not just the medium.
There are few remote apps out there which can be used to remotely connect to systems.
I have used terminal applications for Windows mobile which use SSH for connectivity, to connect to my servers at work, for monitoring and tweaking. I have also used RDP apps on my HTC Tytn II to connect to some machines at work.
It is definitely convenient to get some work done on the weekend, when you are away from work and sometimes from home too! But, being an IT support engineer, mobile connectivity does allow work to creep into our "home time" and makes it difficult to separate the two. Of course, it is always great to have such features, but it is upto us to make the decision call, when we have to decide which is more important, our work or our life.
