Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

This is a common problem that may occur when a program that has an associated MMC snap-in and remove & leaves an orphaned entry in the registry.
To overcome this:

  1. Ignore the message in the Symptoms section and click OK to start MMC.
  2. Click Console.
  3. Click Add\Remove Snap-in.
  4. Click the orphaned snap-in. (it may be not an icon….) so please keep in mind
  5. Click Remove.
  6. Click OK to close the Add\Remove snap-in window.
  7. Save your changes to the console.

Hope this info may help you!

Actually nothing appears when i click ok on the error message and system doesnt respond properly. It seems that the console is corrupt. Can executing fresh MMC 3.0.exe (its available is WIndows Server 2003 KB -907265 x-86ENU.exe) solve the problem?

no Rechil the problem is still there. Actually I can't see the Menu Bar in the window that opens and hence can't reach the Add/Remove Snap-in. Could this be caused due to virus. Installing a fresh copy of Server is not what i intend to do.

I think ur guess may be right ! U have to check the system with good anti-virus ! I suggest to use MWAV 12.60 version. don't worry it is absolutely free and it doesn't install itself, just for emergency scan and must run in SAFE MODE without networking. Hope it may help u

Hey Rechil Thanks a lot for your help and advice. I have resolved the problem. banged my head a lot and man it was an OS issue. A simple repair has brought the server to its healthy state. May be some files had gone missing.. Thanks a lot and can i have your e-mail for future issues, if any. Thanks regards Amardeep.
