I have a large database saved in xls. 2003; I changed one column heading and got a message that reads: Compatibility Report for Thurs Brkfst Data Base.xls Run on 11/20/2008 16:50 The following features in this workbook are not supported by earlier versions of Excel. These features may be lost or degraded when you save this workbook in an earlier file format. Minor loss of fidelity # of occurrences -1 Some cells or styles in this workbook contain formatting that is not supported by the selected file format. These formats will be converted to the closest format available. My problem is, this error message replaced the actual worksheet so I don't know how to get back to it. I know it wasn't wiped out because when I view it after it's closed out (attributes) it still has a large amount of KB. HELP..i am two days behind now because of this. Yes, I tried saving to a binary 97-03 version, and re-opening, nothing.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

This message: “Some cells or styles in this workbook contain formatting that is not supported by the selected file format. These formats will be converted to the closest format available.” is displayed when the incompatibility is format-related. In these cases the data is not affected/deleted/replaced, so if this was the only incompatibility message, I would not worry.

Some other compatibility problems could happen, that would affect the data, for example when the problem is related to the number of columns or rows allowed in previous versions of excel; but in this case, the message would be completely different.

If you have confirmed that some data is missing, maybe some other compatibility warnings were displayed when you saved the file.

Formate, what is your question ? If you have a format incompatibility, I believe the data will remain intact, but will probably be shown with a slightly different format.
