It’s hard to imagine any Y2K product that still has any purpose after more than a decade of use in the new century — especially if it requires continued licensing to keep working.

Does it actually “do” anything now? Is it required just to keep applications working? Or was it used as part of a conversion effort?

It’s likely that you can continue to use the product if you don’t renew the maintenance, but you won’t be able to receive any updates and any OS or hardware upgrades may well disable the product.
