Migrating windows 2003 sbs to windows 2008 sbs
I am going to migrate a windows 2003 sbs to windows 2008 sbs. I have looked at the migration methods and understand but have 1 question. Can the windows 2003 sbs server remain on the domain as
a member server to be accessed by users until it is no longer needed.
I understand that their is a 21 day elongated migration period but due to demand of second party application installers, they might need the applications on the old server available for longer than 21 days.

Answer Wiki:
On page 70 of 79 of the migration manual:
"You must use the procedures that are provided by your LOB-application provider to migrate the data within the 21-day grace period that you have to complete the migration process and before you decommission the Source Server."
Then in task 4 of "Finish Migration" it says to remove the server from the network. So I would expect there to be some conflicts if you dont.
Specifically what apps are you having concerns about? Also how many employees are you talking about? Contact me if you want...
